History of theatre
Ballet Theatre "Moscowia" (former Moscow State Ballet Theatre under People’s Artist of Russia Lilia Sabitova) was established in 1990 under aegis of the Ministry of Culture of Russia. Existed originally in form of mono-theatre, its repertoire were consisted of Lilia Sabitova’s mono-ballets as follows: Echo of Isadora Duncan in Russia, Dreams of Carmen, Beethoven Sonatas, etc. Consequentially, as choreographer, Lilia Sabitova staged full production ballets, required corps-de-ballet and principal dancers involvement, what leads to follow step: in 2000 the mono-theatre was turned into 46 ballet dancers - strong company, currently comprised of mostly young artists, all are graduates from Moscow and St. Petersburg ballet schools. New repertoire of the theatre consists of follow brand new original productions, (all choreographed and produced by Lilia Sabitova, specially for the company) as two-act ballets : La Traviata (after Dumas-fills, music by Verdi), Peer Gynt (after Ibsen, music by Grieg), Carmen (after Merimes, music by Bizet), Carmina Burana (music by Orff, to medieval vagantes text). Also, one-act ballets : Muse of Tsarskoe (Hommage to A. Pushkin and A. Akhmatova), Once upon in the Evening (ballet-vaudeville, music by Offenbach), Demon (after M. Lermontov, inspired by M. Vrubel’s paintings, music by Rachmaninov), A Diva’s Return (Hommage to soprano Kyra Vayne, music by several authors, based on Kyra Vayne’s Historical recordings), and, also, Gems of Russian Ballet - two-act Grand classical Divertissement. The company actively toured around the world and successfully participated in various international Art festivals. The Company Principal Dancers : People’s Artist of Russia Lilia Sabitova, Andrei Liapin, Tatiana Borisova, Alexander Oussov, Elena Oussova, Alyna Poletaeva. Soloists: Andrei Yelshanov, Yasna Dikussar, Victor Troshin. Set & Costume Design Artist : Tamara Iliukhina.
